Monthly Prayer Focus
October 2024
Each month, St Peter’s issues a special prayer focus.

We invite you to join together in prayer as we reflect on the endless compassion, love, and patience of the Lord.

Scripture
Colossians 3:12-13 (NIV translation)
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Reflection
Sometimes we may find it difficult to understand that Almighty God chose us and in spite all of our repeated wrong doings, He still loves us. We are very precious to Him and He made us. He is well aware of our shortcomings yet He still chooses to use us in His Kingdom.
Remember that each one of our Church family is also chosen by God and is precious to Him. All of us make mistakes and we need to acknowledge that we’re all in the same boat! Patience and forgiveness are some of the most difficult things to practice.

As we move forward, let’s ask the Holy Spirit to show us where we need to change and how to be patient, forgiving and accepting of each other.
Prayer
Father God, Your Word tells us of Your love, endless compassion and patience. As children in your family, we acknowledge that we sometimes don’t reflect the qualities we read of in the verses above. Please forgive us when we wander away from Your ways and fail to live as You desire.

Holy Spirit, fill us, shape us and direct us to bring glory and honour to You as we reflect those qualities of kindness, humility, patience and forgiveness.
Help us to see the good in others and encourage each other with the gifts You have given us.

In Jesus’s Name.
Amen.
